Susan and I spent the weekend camping in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, which is located between Santa Rosa and Sonoma. It’s a great place to see the night sky on a clear night, because it has mountains and hills all around it which serve to block out city lights. To make things even better, this was with night before a new moon, so the sky was very, very dark, allowing me to get this shot of the Milky Way in a 30-second exposure.
The second photo is an HDR shot of a tree grove. I went with HDR because it was very sunny and there was quite a bit of contrast in the scene.
